The Four Feathers (2002) *** of ****. The acting was very good over all. The weakness in Ethne's character was more of a direction problem, as she should have been more emotional in the middle part when she realized her error. Djimon, Heath, & the cinematographer could be looking at nominations, but neither the screenwriter, the editor, the director, nor the movie are looking so golden. The sound was of very good quality, and the music selections added some dimension to the on screen events. This is worth seeing on the big screen despite its problems. There needs to be more detail narrating Harry's growth and motivations in order to cement his actions. Many of the character's motivations don't really gel because they are too subtle, and concepts like integrity & honor are practically alien in the 'me' culture. The transitions were cut too short to lead the audience into the next chapter. Hopefully, the incompleteness from studio cut corners will be rectified for the video release. It is worth seeing at the theater.
